For over 40 years Nevill Hall Creche has been fortunate to be situated in the picturesque grounds of Nevill Hall hospital.
We continue to enjoy our natural surroundings on a regular basis. The grounds provide a beautiful base for not only the well-being of the children and staff but also an excellent provision for educating the children of all ages about the natural world.
The baby room enjoy pram walks around the grounds, the nursery room enjoy walks, picnics, feeding the ducks and exploring the nearby woodland. Pre-school is probably the group who utilise the grounds more often for nature walks around the grounds, sports days, teddy bears picnics and Forest Education sessions
The children benefit greatly from educational experiences such as;
1. Collecting seasonal items for craft and continuous provision
2. Using magnifying glasses, cameras and binoculars to capture seasonal changes in trees, flowers and pondlife. We also enjoy the cows, sheep and the wide variety of birds nearby.
3. Children’s language is enhanced as they use their senses to investigate their surroundings. We often use fruit from the trees in our provision or to bake with.
4. We have an annual sports day to provide additional scope for the children to challenge themselves physically and use the grassed areas regularly as the pre-school garden is a paved area.
5. We make the most of the shaded areas within the grounds for activities and general play and regularly visit the memorial garden for quiet and story times. We have, on occasion, used the exercise equipment.
